Personal and Professional Ethics/Values

Personal Ethics and Values

Generally speaking, I like to build things, not destroy them.  I believe in contributing positively to society, and that it's even our obligation to do so.  Far too many people take our civilization, freedoms, and the amenities of living in a first-world country for granted.  Most of the world doesn't live like this.

I like this quote:

"...For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you." -- Neil deGrasse Tyson

Professional Ethics

One of the things I learned as a professional engineer in Alberta is the importance of engineering ethics, because APEGGA emphasized it so much.  It's every bit as important for engineers as it is for doctors, and it's why I could say that I think APEGGA considers ethics to be the very foundation of professionalism.

Treating people fairly, kindly, honestly, and with respect are what I strive to do in life.
